Fall Outdoor Camps at Hemisfair
November 9, 2020 - December 2, 2020
Are your kids tired of Zoom calls and staring in front of their computer? Need them to get out and enjoy the fresh air?
Try our new in-person classes held outdoors at Hemisfair. Students will have fun exploring the basics of theatre by learning how actors use their bodies, voices, and imaginations while in an outside setting environment practicing social distancing.
The Magik Theatre Outside Dramatics Class
Geared for ages 5+ and held on Mondays and Wednesdays (11/09/2020-12/02/2020) from 5pm – 6pm. Each class in capped at 5 with one teaching artist. Students will engage in 4 different types of activities: Acting, Story Telling & Ensemble activities.
Using Covid-19 practices, the Teaching Artist will help guide the students as they create their own production and story with the finale of a showcase to be held LIVE outside and will be available to live stream for family members who are unable to come.
Parents can stay and visit some of the businesses that have reopened at Hemisfair and parking is FREE, when using the Hemisfair garage.
Magik Theatre’s Outside Dramatics – Dr. Seuss’s Silly Stories
Ages 5-10
November 9, 2020 – December 2, 2020, Mondays and Wednesdays from 5pm – 6pm at Hemisfair
Only 5 students with one instructor
We’ve all read his stories. Join us to bring those zany books to life! In this class you will rhyme yourself into a Dr. Seuss’ character, from the Lorax to the Cat in the Hat. Expect to meet many of these beloved characters while learning the basic skills that every actor needs. You will explore the fundamentals of comedy, theatre, and storytelling in this fantastical camp class. Oh, the places you’ll go in this Seuss-sational theatre class!

Magik’s Outside Dramatics: Myths and Magik
Ages 11+
November 9, 2020 – December 2, 2020, Mondays and Wednesdays from 5pm – 6pm at Hemisfair
Only 5 students with one instructor
From The Hobbit and Harry Potter to Maleficent and Percy Jackson—all of your favorite characters come together in this class for the annual Myth & Magic Convention. You will create your own hilarious tale revealing what happens when all that power is under one roof! You will explore the fundamentals of drama/comedy, theatre, and storytelling in this fantastical camp class.

Class Details (ages 5-10 & 11+)
- Each class is capped at 5 students with 1 Teaching Artists.
- 4 week session / 8 hours of class time.
- Each week, students will engage in 4 different types of activities: Acting, Story Telling & Ensemble activities.
- Showcase will be a live performance outside. Only parents will be allowed to attend the showcase, but we will live stream the performance for family members to view.
- Class/camp shirts will be provided to the students.
- Complimentary parking is available at the Hemisfair Parking Garage, entrance is located off of Cesar Chavez on Hemisfair Street.
