21/22 Education Health and Safety Protocols

Magik Theatre is dedicated to creating a safe and enriching environment for all of its campers. While we understand that masks can be a hindrance for self-expression, we want to encourage all of our students to consider wearing masks while attending camp.

We also highly recommend that all campers receive a Covid-19 vaccine and booster, if they are eligible. However, as of this writing, the current community risk level for Covid-19 transmission is low for Bexar County. Because of this, we will not be requiring students to wear masks or show proof of vaccination in order to participate in camp.

ENROLLMENT LIMITS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING

In order to encourage social distancing, each camp session will be limited to 15 participants. Lunch and snack breaks will take place outdoors, weather permitting.

FACE MASKS

Magik Theatre Teaching Artists will wear masks at all times and are fully vaccinated. Teaching Artists will encourage distancing when possible and ensure that campers practice good hand hygiene. Students are encouraged but not required to wear a mask at this time.  However, Magik Theatre reserves the right to change this policy according to CDC recommendations.

VENTILATION & AIR PURIFICATION

All areas of camp occupancy will have an air purifier that has been tested and proven against Covid-19 and other viral aerosols. Magik has also installed a UV air sanitizer to purify all air in our overall intake systems.

HAND HYGIENE

Magik Theatre will provide hand sanitizer and will schedule regular breaks for campers to sanitize or wash their hands. If parents/students have a brand or type of hand sanitizer they prefer they are welcome to bring their own.

VISITOR & STAFF RESTRICTIONS

Parents, caregivers, and other guests will not be permitted to enter the building. Magik Theatre staff members who are unaffiliated with the camp will not interact with campers.

WHEN NOT TO COME TO CAMP

Campers should stay at home for any of the following reasons:

  • If they are symptomatic or have a positive case of Covid-19
  • If someone in the household is symptomatic or has a positive case of Covid-19
  • If they are unvaccinated and have been in close contact with someone who is symptomatic or has a positive case of Covid-19

IN CASE OF ILLNESS

  • Symptomatic Camper
    • If a camper begins to show symptoms of Covid-19 they will be immediately isolated from the rest of the camp group and their parents will be contacted. We will provide a safe and comfortable place for isolation and a camp staff member will stay with them until their parents can come to pick them up.
    • If a camper becomes symptomatic or is positive for Covid-19, we will contact the parents of each camper
    • If a parent calls to tell us they are not bringing their child to camp because they are ill, we will not allow them to return without a negative PCR test.

All parents who register their children must agree to these protocols and make a commitment to adhere to them. Magik Theatre reserves the right to end our relationship with a camper and their family if there are continual deliberate efforts to subvert these guidelines. If these regulations change between registration and camp session we will alert all parents. Magik Theatre will not be able to provide refunds due to Covid-19 illness and camp cancellations.

Magik Theatre reserves the right to strengthen its Covid-19 Safety Protocols if the CDC determines that Bexar County is at a higher transmission risk. Refunds will not be provided if there is an objection to a change of Covid Safety Protocols. For more information on Covid Community Level tracking, please click here.
