Magik Theatre & OPERA San Antonio present John Davies’ Pinocchio, a one-act opera for young audiences based on Carlo Collodi’s literary classic, featuring music from operas by Mozart, Donizetti, Offenbach, and Pergolesi.

One of the most beloved characters in children’s literature takes center stage in this magical re-telling which blends opera and theatrical staging. Pinocchio captures the childlike curiosity in all of us, as he navigates an unknown and complicated world. When persuaded by the mischievous duo, Wolf and Cat, Pinocchio disobeys his father Gepetto and skips school. Of course, his journey is met by the notorious Dr. Dulcamara, a loathsome puppeteer, and his mechanical doll Olympia. Through a series of adventures, Pinocchio learns the harsh reality that every untruth comes with real-world consequences, the importance of sharing the truth with trusted grownups, and ultimately, the meaning of family. Your favorite wooden marionette comes alive for 3-weekends only in this age-old story of truthfulness, bravery and heart! San Antonio’s not-to-miss artistic collaboration of 2027.

Robert Cardoza, the San Antonio theatre community’s primary sign language interpreter, will be available during this performance for patrons that require ASL as their primary form of communication.

Please note: The ASL interpreter will stand at orchestra level to the right of the stage near the handicap seating area. May change without notice.

Educators and education admin staff are eligible for 1 free ticket to this performance with proof of I.D. These tickets are only available in person at the Box Office on the day of the performance. Additional tickets are available to purchase for these performances at a discount of $5 off the regular ticket prices.
