Students everywhere are invited to join Camp Showbiz, now online for ages 3 to 17!

Get moving and get creative from the comfort of your own home with Magik’s newly devised summer program Camp Showbiz: E-cademy for ages 3.5 – 17. Every week, students will engage in four types of learning: class meeting and warm ups, one-on-one coaching with a teaching artist, audio-visual tutorials, and provided off-screen activities.

All Academy classes will be held online using a combination of Canvas and Zoom, with a final showcase being held over Zoom for friends and family to virtually attend.

i-Station: Song and Dance AM

(Ages 3.5-5)

i-Station serves as a launching pad for imaginative escapes. Participants in our AM half-day camp will adventure through dramatic play, stories, games, crafts, and movement activities. Your child will strengthen their creative thinking, motor, cooperation, and problem solving skills while having fun singing and dancing to their favorite tunes! i-Station is the perfect entrance point for a child who is ready to play, laugh, create, and explore through the world of drama. i-Station online sharing will occur on the last day of the camp session and includes a movement activity and work from their dramatic adventures. 

 

i-Station: Paw Patrol PM

(Ages 3.5-5)

i-Station serves as a launching pad for imaginative escapes. Participants in our PM half-day camp will adventure through dramatic play, stories, narrative pantomime, games, crafts and movement activities to gear up for a playful rescue mission with their favorite Paw Patrol pups. Green Eggs & Ham

(Ages 5-7)

Our themed classes will introduce students to basic acting skills while exploring themes and characters from literature. The course accommodates students from a variety of experience and skill levels as they work with a professional teaching artist to create and develop work based off of the beloved Dr. Seuss children’s book Green Eggs and Ham. Campers will strengthen their creative thinking, cooperation, and literacy skills through drama. The sessions will culminate with an informal online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp. 

 

Dragons Love Tacos (Bilingual) 

(Ages 5-7) 

¡Oye tú! ¿Sabías que a los dragones les encantan los tacos? Our themed classes will introduce students to basic acting skills while exploring themes and characters from literature. The course accommodates students from a variety of experience and skill levels as they work with a Spanish and English speaking professional teaching artist to develop a work  based off of the deliciously fun children’s book Dragons Love Tacos. Campers will strengthen their creative thinking, cooperation, and literacy skills through drama. The sessions will culminate with an informal online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

 

Acting 101

(Ages 7-11) 

Need a class that gives you the tools to become a knowledgeable and skilled young actor? Then Acting 101 is for you! In this class, students will learn the basics involved in creating characters, using their voice, storytelling techniques, and story creation. Students will work with their professional teaching artist to master these skills, while also collaborating to create a new piece of theatre. Campers will strengthen their creative thinking, cooperation, and literacy skills through drama. The sessions will culminate with an informal online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp. 

 

The Magical World of Harry Potter

(Ages 7-11)

Enter the mystical world of Harry Potter and build your wizardry skills through the magic of theatre and imagination. Students will participate in a variety of drama activities inspired by Hogwarts classes like Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Charms. At the end of the session, students will participate in an informal sharing of work created during the class. Wands at the ready!

Musical Theatre Marathon: Frozen A, B

(Ages 7-11)

Travel into the icy unknown with a cool musical mashup of Disney’s Frozen! This Musical Theatre Marathon class will give students the chance to master techniques and build skills to refine their singing, dancing, and acting talents with songs like “Let it Go”, “Into The Unknown”, and “Show Yourself”. Led by a professional theatre and education artist, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp. 

 

Musical Theatre Marathon: Descendants A, B

(Ages 7-11)

Jump into the wicked musical mashup of Disney’s Descendants! This Musical Theatre Marathon class will give students the chance to master techniques and build skills to refine their singing, dancing, and acting talents with songs like “Rotten to The Core”, “Evil Like Me”, and “What’s My Name”. Led by a professional theatre and education artist, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp. 

 

Make A Movie! 

(Ages 8+)

Lights, camera, action! Are you a future filmmaker, movie star, or cinematographer? Then step into frame and set the scene with our Make A Movie class! In this class, you will learn from professional artists with extensive knowledge on the world of film while  exploring screenplay writing, professional filming techniques, lighting operation, sound engineering, and all of the many career opportunities the film industry has! Throughout the session, you will be working with your class to brainstorm, write, act, film, and edit your very own movie! This course accommodates students from a variety of experience and skill levels as they work with a professional teaching artist to create and develop work based off of beloved characters from the hit movie Trolls. Everybody move your hair and feel united as you dance, sing and act your way through this remarkable adventure with Princess Poppy, Branch, and the gang. Campers will strengthen their creative thinking, cooperation, and literacy skills through drama. The sessions will culminate with an informal online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

 

Disney’s Coco (Bilingual) 

(Ages 5 – 7) 

¿Quires cantar y bailar como Miguel? Our themed classes will introduce students to basic acting skills while exploring themes and characters from pop culture and literature. This course accommodates students from a variety of experience and skill levels as they work with a Spanish and English-speaking professional teaching artist to develop work based off of Disney’s Coco! Join Miguel and Héctor as they journey through a new adventure with the whole familia! Campers will strengthen their creative thinking, cooperation, and literacy skills through drama. Theatre Tech

(Ages 7 – 11)

Does your child love theatre but prefers to work behind the scenes? Theatre Tech camp is the perfect entrance point for a student wanting to learn all about elements of technical theatre including lighting, sound, carpentry, scenic painting, stage management, costuming and more. This course accommodates students from a variety of experience and skill levels as they work with a professional teaching artist on a variety of tech projects. Campers will strengthen their creative thinking, cooperation, organizational and problem-solving skills while learning the fundamentals of technical theatre. The sessions will culminate with an informal online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

 

Disney’s Most Musical Villains (Bilingual)

(Ages 7 – 11)

Join Ursula, Scar, Cruella de Vil, Gaston, Doctor Facilier, Mother Gothel, and even Oogie Boogie as they embark on a new villainous journey of magic and deceit! Our themed classes will introduce students to the basics of acting, singing and dancing skills while exploring themes and characters from pop culture and literature. This course accommodates students from a variety of experience and skill levels as they work with a Spanish and English speaking professional teaching artist to develop work based off of Disney’s Most Musical Villains! (Ages 7 – 11)

Follow the yellow brick road, ease on down the road, or defy gravity on a journey through the magical world of Oz. This class will explore the classic story of Oz through different adaptations such as, Wicked, The Wizard of Oz, and The Wiz. Musical Theatre Marathon: Shrek 

(Ages 7 – 11)

Be a “Believer” and explore the Ogre that is inside you! This class will explore all of the Shrek movies, storylines, and characters. So, come and enjoy the fresh swamp water and some waffles! Do you want to learn the secrets of acting stars like Leonardo Di Caprio, Meryl Streep, and Viola Davis? Want to learn how to take your talent from the stage to the screen? Acting For the Camera offers you the opportunity to explore your inner movie star! Learn professional techniques for camera acting, create and film original monologues and scenes, and share your cinematic genius with your friends and families at the end of camp! 

 

Musical Theatre Maraton: Now on Broadway
(Ages 12+)

Do you have Broadway dreams? Can you see your name in lights? We believe in you! Master your auditioning, singing, and acting skills to prepare you for the Broadway stage! Work with fellow students to create and perform a medley of songs and dances from current shows on Broadway. Musical Theatre Marathon: Disney Medley

(Ages 7 – 11)

Dare to go into the unknown? Do you wish upon a star? Do you always sing to Disney show tunes? Then, this class is for you! Explore all your favorite Disney songs such as, “A Whole New World”, “How Far I’ll Go”, “Part of your World” and more! Perform them just like your favorite Disney character and explore the magical world of Disney. Led by a professional theatre and education artist, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

 

Musical Theatre Marathon: Aladdin 

(Ages 7 – 11)

Take “One Jump” into our Aladdin summer camp! Will you explore all of Agrabah or search deep inside the cave of wonders? In this class you will learn about the story of Aladdin and cover all the different adaptations like the animated movie, musical, and live action movie. Led by a professional theatre and education artist, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp. With our all new Developing a TV Show class, you will collaborate with your peers to storyboard, write, and film your own TV show to premiere to your friends and family at the end of camp! And, who knows, you might get picked up by the Magik Network! 

 

Glee: Movie Musicals 

(Ages 12+)

When you think about movies like Pitch Perfect, The Greatest Showman, or Mamma Mia do you randomly burst out into song? Belting out the greatest hits? Glee: Movie Musicals offers students the opportunity for a Glee experience: mashing up some iconic songs from popular movie musicals! Led by a professional theatre and education artist, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

Musical Theatre Marathon: The Lion King Experience

(Ages 7 – 11)

Come down to pride rock and explore the animal kingdom with The Lion King. Learn about the animated movie, musical, and live film adaption. Roar to all of your favorite music from the movie and learn of some new songs from the musical. Explore your inner animal and Hakuna Matata! Led by a professional theatre and education artist, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

 

Musical Theatre Marathon: Glee Junior 

(Ages 7 – 11)

Are you a fan of Glee? Crazy about acapella groups? Then this is the class for you! Cover all things Glee and explore all the different genres of music. Express your inner “Gleek” and sing it out loud while refining musical and acting skills! Led by a professional theatre and education artist, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

 

Musical Theatre Marathon: High School Musical

(Ages 7 – 11)

Wildcats can you hear me!? If you’re a fan of the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical then you need to enroll at East High, home of the Wildcats. Sing all of your favorite songs from the movies such as “We’re All in this Together”, “Bet On it”, “Fabulous”, “Get’cha Head in the Game” and more while honing your musical theatre skills. Led by a professional theatre and education artist, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

 

Musical Theatre Marathon: Best of Lin-Manuel Miranda

(Ages 7 – 11)

Join in on the fun and perform some of his greatest hits while learning and refining your musical skills and talents! Led by a professional theatre and education artist, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material inspired by Lin-Manuel Miranda and created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

“Hello, guys! Welcome back to my channel!” The new rising YouTube Star is among us and that might be you! Work with some of Magik’s finest to develop your YouTube personality! Learn how to develop a brand, marketing tools, and how to film unique and fun videos. You will create a series of videos displaying your new and improved YouTube brand to share with friends and family at the end of camp. Hurry and sign up, your subscribers are waiting!

 

Musical Theatre Maraton: Hamilton

(Ages 12+)

Ever since Hamilton premiered on Broadway, it has excelled as one of the most popular pieces of musical theatre in history! Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton takes the historical context of American History and flips it on its side with hip hop influences!  Sing, act, and stage a musical medley of the best songs from Hamilton led by a professional theatre and education artist. At the end of camp, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material to share with friends and family!
