Camp Showbiz: E-cademy is now offering both one-week and two-week classes! See an updated schedule and tuition rates below.

Students everywhere are invited to join Camp Showbiz, now online for ages 3 to 17!

Get moving and get creative from the comfort of your own home with Magik’s newly devised summer program Camp Showbiz: E-cademy for ages 3.5 – 17. Every week, students will engage in four types of learning: class meeting and warm ups, one-on-one coaching with a teaching artist, audio-visual tutorials, and provided off-screen activities.

Academy classes will be held online using a combination of Canvas and Zoom, with a final showcase being held over Zoom for friends and family to virtually attend.

Session 3

 

Intro to Puppetry

June 29 – July 3 | Morning Class

Ages 5 – 7

Try our new class format with Intro to Puppetry! Students will learn how to create their very own puppets with materials shipped to your home. They will learn how to develop characters inspired by their puppets, and create stories based off of those characters. Try your hand at it!

 

Intro to Improv

June 29 – July 3 | Afternoon Class

Ages 7 – 11

Try our new class format with Intro to Improv! Students will learn how to think quickly on their feet through a variety of improvisational games and activities to create new stories, new characters, and new scenes that never existed before. Say Yes, And today!

 

Intro to Acting: Trolls

July 6 – 10 | Morning Class

Ages 5 – 7

Try our new class format with Intro to Acting: Trolls! Students will learn the basics of acting by learning how actors use their bodies, voices, and imaginations. Everybody move your hair and feel united as you dance, sing and act your way through this remarkable adventure with Princess Poppy, Branch, and the gang. Come have a troll-tastic summer!

 

Intro to Musical Theatre: The Best of Disney

July 6 – 10 | Afternoon Class

Ages 7 – 11

Dare to go into the unknown? Do you wish upon a star? Do you always sing to Disney show tunes? Then, this class is for you! Explore all your favorite Disney songs such as, “A Whole New World”, “How Far I’ll Go”, “Part of your World” and more! Perform them just like your favorite Disney character and explore the magical world of Disney.

i-Station: Song and Dance AM

(Ages 3.5 – 5)

Please note that i-Station classes are one week only. Students can choose to enroll in either the first or second week of each session during registration.

i-Station serves as a launching pad for imaginative escapes. Participants in our AM half-day camp will adventure through dramatic play, stories, games, crafts, and movement activities. Your child will strengthen their creative thinking, motor, cooperation, and problem solving skills while having fun singing and dancing to their favorite tunes! 

i-Station is the perfect entrance point for a child who is ready to play, laugh, create, and explore through the world of drama. i-Station online sharing will occur on the last day of the camp session and includes a movement activity and work from their dramatic adventures. 

 

i-Station: Inside Out PM

(Ages 3.5 – 5)

Please note that i-Station classes are one week only. Students can choose to enroll in either the first or second week of each session during registration.

i-Station serves as a launching pad for imaginative escapes. Participants in our PM half-day camp will adventure through dramatic play, stories, narrative pantomime, games, crafts and movement activities to help save the day. Your child will strengthen their creative thinking, motor, cooperation, and problem solving skills while exploring a range of emotions in headquarters with Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear. 

i-Station is the perfect entrance point for a child who is ready to play, laugh, create, and explore through the world of drama. i-Station online sharing will occur on the last day of the camp session and includes a movement activity and work from their dramatic adventures. 

 

Wizards, Wands, and Magik 

(Ages 5 – 7)

Our themed classes will introduce students to basic acting skills while exploring themes and characters from children’s literature. This course accommodates students from a variety of experience and skill levels as they work with a professional teaching artist to create and develop work based on best-selling books such as Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, and Percy Jackson. Don your cloak, grab your wands and swords to enter a mystical, magical world of your own creation. Students will strengthen their creative thinking, cooperation, and literacy skills through drama. The sessions will culminate with an informal online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp. 

 

Voice Acting 

(Ages 7 – 11)

Imagine being the voice of a video game character, animated character, or even a talking toy! Voice acting camp is the perfect entrance point for a child wanting to learn all about elements of voice acting including voice overs, vocal techniques, and demo production. This course accommodates students from a variety of experience and skill levels as they work with a professional teaching artist on a variety of voice acting techniques. Campers will strengthen their creative thinking, cooperation, organizational and problem-solving skills while learning the fundamentals of voice acting. The sessions will culminate with an informal online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

 

The Magical World of Harry Potter

(Ages 7 – 11)

Enter the mystical world of Harry Potter and build your wizardry skills through the magic of theatre and imagination. Students will participate in a variety of drama activities inspired by Hogwarts classes like Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Charms, to name a few. At the end of the session, students will participate in an informal sharing of work created during the class. Wands at the ready!

 

Musical Theatre Marathon: Descendants

(Ages 7 – 11)

Jump into the wicked musical mashup of Disney’s Descendants! This Musical Theatre Marathon class will give students the chance to master techniques and build skills to refine their singing, dancing, and acting talents with songs like “Rotten to The Core”, “Evil Like Me”, and “What’s My Name”. Led by a professional theatre and education artist, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp. 

 

Developing a TV Show 

(Ages 8+)

Who doesn’t love a great TV show? Game of Thrones, Friends, Phineas and Ferb, The Office, and so many more! With our all new Developing a TV Show class, you will collaborate with your peers to storyboard, write, and film your own TV show to premiere to your friends and family at the end of camp! And, who knows, you might get picked up by the Magik Network! 

 

Glee: Movie Musicals 

(Ages 12+)

When you think about movies like Pitch Perfect, The Greatest Showman, or Mamma Mia do you randomly burst out into song? Belting out the greatest hits? Glee: Movie Musicals offers students the opportunity for a Glee experience: mashing up some iconic songs from popular movie musicals! Led by a professional theatre and education artist, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

(Ages 3.5 – 5)

Please note that i-Station classes are one week only. Students can choose to enroll in either the first or second week of each session during registration.

i-Station serves as a launching pad for imaginative escapes. Participants in our PM camp will adventure through dramatic play, stories, narrative pantomime, games, crafts and movement activities inspired by the deliciously fun children’s book Dragons Love Tacos. Your child will strengthen their creative thinking, motor, cooperation, and problem solving skills while playing with dragons who love to eat tacos! 

i-Station is the perfect entrance point for a child who is ready to play, laugh, create, and explore through the world of drama. i-Station online sharing will occur on the last day of the camp session and includes a movement activity and work from their dramatic adventures. 

 

Minions (Bilingual) 

(Ages 7 – 11) 

Our themed classes will introduce students to basic acting skills while exploring themes and characters from pop culture and literature. This course accommodates students from a variety of experience and skill levels as they work with a Spanish and English speaking professional teaching artist to develop work based off of the hit movie Minions! Join the minions as they embark on a new adventure of exploration, mystery, mischief and experiments! Campers will strengthen their creative thinking, cooperation, and literacy skills through drama. This session will culminate with an informal online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

 

Trapped in a Video Game

(Ages 7 – 11)

Our themed classes will introduce students to basic acting skills while exploring themes and characters from pop culture and literature. Just when you thought playing a video game was safe, you get zapped in! Participants will work with a professional teaching artist to construct strong, creative, collaborative stories that are inspired by cyber space universes. The course accommodates students from a variety of experience and skill levels. Campers will strengthen their creative thinking, cooperation, and literacy skills through drama. This session will culminate with an informal online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

 

Musical Theatre Marathon: High School Musical

(Ages 7 – 11)

Wildcats can you hear me!? If you’re a fan of the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical then you need to enroll at East High, home of the Wildcats. Sing all of your favorite songs from the movies such as “We’re All in this Together”, “Bet On it”, “Fabulous”, “Get’cha Head in the Game” and more while honing your musical theatre skills. Led by a professional theatre and education artist, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material created by students during the session on the last day of camp.

 

YouTube and You! 

(Ages 8+)

“Hello, guys! Welcome back to my channel!” The new rising YouTube Star is among us and that might be you! Work with some of Magik’s finest to develop your YouTube personality! Learn how to develop a brand, marketing tools, and how to film unique and fun videos. You will create a series of videos displaying your new and improved YouTube brand to share with friends and family at the end of camp. Hurry and sign up, your subscribers are waiting!

 

Musical Theatre Marathon: Hamilton

(Ages 12+)

Ever since Hamilton premiered on Broadway, it has excelled as one of the most popular pieces of musical theatre in history! Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton takes the historical context of American History and flips it on its side with hip hop influences!  Sing, act, and stage a musical medley of the best songs from Hamilton led by a professional theatre and education artist. At the end of camp, students will prepare a dazzling online sharing of material to share with friends and family!
