Don't miss this unique opportunity to experience a beautiful presentation of music and movement by the Taipei Folk Dance Theater. Founded in 1988 as the first professional ethnic dance company in Taiwan, the mission of Taipei Folk Dance is to promote and preserve Taiwan’s varied dance heritage, especially those originating from ethnic cultures of the island’s colorful aborigine tribes, in addition to the obvious influence of Chinese traditional dance. Since its inception, Taipei Folk Dance has traveled throughout the world, performing in more than 40 countries showcasing Taiwanese dance and music. The Taipei Folk Dance performance is entitled The Three Electronic Princes and is part of the Year of Taiwan, celebrating of the rich cultural legacy of Taiwan with a series of events and performances featuring a select group of that country’s most outstanding traditional and contemporary artists. The cultural exchange initiative is an extension of San Antonio's Sister City relationship with Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Directions/Parking The Magik Theatre is located in downtown Historic Hemisfair Park, within walking distance of the Riverwalk. Free event parking will be available in the San Antonio ISD lot on the corner of Durango/Cesar Chavez and South Alamo St. Access to the lot is on Water St., behind the firehouse.
