If You Give a Pig a Party and Other Animal Adventures    Ages 5 - 6

This exciting new class will explore the animal world of the popular “If You Give a…” book series by Laura Numeroff. You’ll learn how to act, move, and tell a story as your favorite animal. Come set the scene for a picture book adventure that will be sure to bring the wild animal out of your imagination and onto our stage!

 

Sing, Sing, Sing!      Ages 5 - 6

Whistle a happy tune and skip to the beat of this sensational summer singing course! In this class, you’ll learn how to turn your favorite songs into stories to be acted out on our stage. You’ll focus on building both vocal and movement skills, while learning basic acting techniques too. Let your imagination send you soaring toward Sing, Sing, Sing!

 

From Page to Stage: Junie B. Jones and Flat Stanley     Ages 6 - 8

Everyone’s favorite chapter book characters return this summer for a class filled with mischievous misadventures! Together as a class you’ll combine adorable know-it-all Junie B. and paper-thin Stanley's tales to make one super-story for the stage. This class uses basic acting techniques and games to introduce theatre through beloved storybook characters. See how a show is born and characters jump off the page in this class for fiction-loving kids!

 

The Sensationally Silly Stories of Dr. Seuss!    Ages 6 - 8

We've all read his stories. Now join us in bringing those zany books to life on stage! In this class you'll rhyme yourself into a Dr. Seuss character of your choice, from Yertle the Turtle to the Cat in the Hat himself, all while learning the basic skills that every actor needs. Oh, the places you'll go in this Seuss-sational theatre class!

 

From Page to Stage: The Wacky World of Roald Dahl   Ages 8 - 10

From The B.F.G. to Fantastic Mr. Fox to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the stories of Roald Dahl are read and known by children all over the world. This summer we’ll mash up these popular tales and turn them into one amazing hit play. You’ll explore the books, act as the characters, imagine up the whimsical settings, and perform your very own Roald Dahl adventure!

 

Hooray for Hollywood!    Ages 10 - 12

If you’ve ever imagined yourself as a Hollywood star, then you’ve landed in the right place! This exciting course covers your love for movies, from black and white talkies to modern 3D masterpieces. Along with the basics of stage, you’ll learn about film acting and create your very own play based off your big-budget cinema favorites. Find your inner star with us this summer!

 

Acting 101     Ages 8 - 12

Want to learn the fundamentals of acting? This class will introduce you to the tools an actor needs to perform on stage. You will work on voice, movement, characterization, and creativity while building enough confidence to take to the stage. If you want to be an actor, but you’ve never had the chance, this is where you start.

 

Acting 102     Ages 10 - 14

If you’ve taken basic acting and want to continue to build your skills, join us for Acting 102. This course picks up where Acting 101 left off. After a brief review of the basic tools of acting, this class will work on scenes and monologues while digging deeper into how an actor prepares for a role. This class will take your acting “chops” to a higher level.

 

Musical Theatre Marathon   Ages 8 - 14

Session 2 – Wicked

Our popular musical theatre class is back! Once again you’ll focus on excerpts from a different musical or musical theatre genre per session. This class will teach you how to become a musical theatre “triple threat”: singing, dancing, and acting. The course will culminate in a show-stopping production featuring musical scenes and selections at the end of each session. Take all five sessions and become a Musical Theatre Marathon Master!  

 

Make a Movie*

(For Pre-Teens Ages 9 - 12) and (For Teens Ages 13 - 17)

Want to be the director, writer, and producer of your very own blockbuster movie? Today’s technology makes it possible for everyone to make their mark in the film biz! Join our popular Make a Movie class and get a little taste of Hollywood right here in Texas. It all starts with a great idea: learn how to storyboard, script, act, film, and edit your masterpiece. The best part is all the fun you’ll have!

*This class is an additional $25 for a DVD copy of the finished film.*  


TEEN XTREME: Magik Glee Club    Ages 13-17
Taking a page from the rock and roll style of the characters from TV's hit "Glee," we'll choose popular music to turn into big, bright production numbers and create our own Magik Theatre Glee Club! We'll focus on emoting through song, adapting popular dance moves into choreography, and learning what it takes to make a simple song a showstopper!
