From The Director of Education...
A well-rounded education involves the arts – writing, drawing, performing, sculpting, dancing, composing, creating. Creative endeavors play a crucial role in improving students’ learning abilities because they depend on a range of intelligence and learning styles, not just the linguistic and logical intelligence on which school curricula and testing are based. The benefits of arts education include development of problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, improved overall academic performance, heightened self-esteem and self-confidence, greater creative and emotional expression, and greater self-discipline and sense of responsibility. At Magik, we focus on the creative and artistic life of each child, assisting him or her in gaining mastery of these important life skills.
The Magik Theatre offers a variety of programming to meet the arts education needs of San Antonio-area youth, including weekend and after-school classes, holiday and summer camps, and workshops for kids and adults. We now also offer programming at our new education facility, the Magik Performing Arts Center (MPAC), as well as camps and weekend classes at our main campus downtown at Hemisfair. Taught by professional, experienced arts educators, and with an expanded class catalog to match our new space there is something for everyone at the Magik.
